IT DEPENDS ON WHAT THE MEANING OF 'SETTLED LAW' IS

     On October 16, 2013, Ann Coulter published an article “It Depends On What The Meaning of ‘Settled Law’ is”, about discussing the situation of refusing Obamacare and taking the negative sides of this decision. The author took a lot of examples about how this new system would not have a good impact on the people not only to the Congress, such as “New York electing Bill de Blasio as Mayer” or and “Bill Clinton's signature legislative achievement -- Midnight Basketball for the Homeless” consequences. Although the Author sounds like a Republican’s proponents, but she brought some good points about the Obama health Care and why the republicans stood against it. I as an individual agree with the author for her critique about the Obama health care. Not all the people can afford to pay for health care. As the Democratic called the ObamaCare as a “settled Law” but it is not in many people benefit. Since the health care fist time applied to State of Massachusetts on a Democratic decision, liberal Massachusetts people elected a Republican senator solely because his vow to vote against Obamacare. The Republicans are would not let this issue pass without stopping it because it is against the people wish, so the Democrats should not apply a law that is been refused by the people and it is against their volition. It is true that the Democrats have won the election because many of us have voted for them for believing in their wise judgment and great leadership; however, sometimes there should be a wide study for each decision they make for America’s citizens before setting a law in regarding to, that should study all aspects of this law before setting it. 

So Far On Capitol Hill, No End In Sight Over Shutdown

    On October the 4^th, 2013, Paul Kane and Josh Hiks wrote an article named “So Far On Capitol Hill, No End In Sight Over Shutdown” that has been posted at Washingtonpost.com. The authors discussed and wrote about the dilemma of the political situation regarding the government shutdown which led to placing many government workers on furlough, as well as closing national museums and parks. The republicans in congress and the President explore to assure those workers that the government will pay them after the government shutdown. After 3 years of being in economic crisis, the democrats in congress wanted to make a different system by going to temporary funding bills. Before the deadline, Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid said “Boehner repeated GOP requirements that Obama should negotiate with them on both funding scales for federal agencies and to wait till the deadline on October the 17^th when the department of US treasury will lose its capability to fund the federal government”. The author critiques the situation and said that Boehner and Cantor were discussing for weeks and standing versus the government shutdown. Despite of the hard argument against the Obama healthcare program, the republican tried quietly to gather some goals that can win the support of the democrats which can solve the annual funding bills issues and reduce the government debt. The author thinks that this situation may also contain the aim to rewrite the taxation laws in a matter of making some changes on the government laws. The authors make the case depending on the news from the congress and where they stand from the situation. The authors' evidentiary support came from the news and many quotes of what the democrats and republicans said during this situation of the government shutdown. The authors mentioned that Obama said “As long as they’re off the job, nobody’s winning, and that’s the point,” which is a part that worked for their argument. There is a logic sounds in this argument about where is the democratic stand from the government shutdown. I would grade the authors for their clarification of what is going on between the two parties.
